Frequently Asked Questions

What types of risks do you address?

We address a wide range of risks, not limited to substance use (e.g. fall prevention, brain health, isolation and self-esteem, food stability). Our focus is on encouraging people to succeed in achieving their desired risk reduction goals and improving their overall well-being.

How can I get involved in your community programs?

You can get involved by attending our workshops, donating financially and/or in-kind, or volunteering for one of our events or at the drop-in centre.

Do you offer confidential services?

Yes, we prioritize confidentiality and respect the privacy of all individuals accessing our services.

Why the Rainbow Colours in Your Logo Hand? Is it meant to signify LGBTQ?

No, the rainbow colours were not specifically chosen for that reason. The colours were chosen to symbolize the diversity that exists within our communities at large, and that together, including all of us, we form something beautiful and combine to make something larger than ourselves.  All members of our community are welcome within The Haven's walls and can expect respect and safety regardless of who they are.

Our Community Partners

From the beginning in March 2024 for The Haven to succeed it has needed and welcomed  the support of other community businesses and organizations.  We want to acknowledge these partners in helping the Haven not only exist but also continue to thrive and grow. Join us in our journey. Explore what we have to offer and how you can contribute to The Haven's success in making Brussels and area a safer less risky place for all its members.

Testimonials

"At first I  didn't think too much of the Haven but and that is a big "but" I was able to talk about my problems.  One visit led to another to the point I was showing up at the same time it was opening. I started to come out of my depression. I started to cleaning myself up. I didn't see the changes at first  but now I do. If it wasn't for ...the Haven opening I wouldn't be here.  I was on the verge of drinking and using drugs again.  Now I am a new man and I am only one person they have helped.  I am so grateful

"Having the food share program makes a huge difference for our family."

"I can't say enough about how comfortable  I was once I walked in.  It is a really homey comfortable space like sitting in a living room.  Leesa and the volunteers are easy to talk to and really fun too
