Our Services

At The Haven Harm Reduction Centre, we offer a range of specialized services designed to minimize risks and build a healthier, safer community for all.

Our approach is individualized, focusing on what YOU choose, at your own pace. We believe in building community as a natural means of successfully reducing a wide variety of risks, not just addiction. 

This does not mean we are here to reinvent the wheel. If we are not the best place to meet your needs, we will provide information and/or a connection to other agencies in the Huron-East Area and beyond if necessary.

1x1 Harm Reduction Counselling

Receive personalized support through our one-on-one harm reduction counselling. We focus on your specific needs and goals, providing a safe and confidential space to explore strategies for reducing risks and improving your well-being.

The initial introductory appointment to see if we are a good fit is cost free.  Future costs are discussed with clients on an individual basis

Food Share Program

Our food share program helps address food security risks in our community. We provide access to nutritious food options, supporting individuals and families in maintaining a healthy and balanced diet.

Help With Online Forms and Applications

Navigating online forms and applications can be challenging. We offer assistance with completing these tasks, ensuring you can access the resources and support you need without unnecessary stress.

Traditional Harm Reduction

The Haven provides traditional harm reduction services to anyone who comes through our doors.  The service is completely anonymous (no name or identifying information is required) with no judgment, no strings attached, and no limits other than please only take what you can/will use.  Our goal is to let you know that you matter to us and to help you reduce your risks wherever possible while supporting you in making the best-informed choices you can. 

Supplies

The following items are available for pickup at the Haven during any of our open hours

  • Pyrex bowl pipes
  • straight stems (screens, mouthpieces, and push sticks)
  • syringes and all needed supplies (tourniquets, alcohol wipes, sterile water and filters, vitamin C, cookers)
  • Sharps containers, personal size and standard size
  • medical supplies: gauze, medical tape, etc.
  • Naloxone kits

Peer Support

If you are someone who uses and wants to be part of making things less dangerous for others who use, consider joining our peer volunteer team.

Some of the things that you can do are:

  • pick up, distribute, and provide safer using equipment and information to others not able to get to the Haven or other locations that provide supplies
  • provide accurate, safer using information and tips to others
  • model safer using practices to others
  • provide REAL info to the staff about the latest trends and risks users are facing 
  • carry a naloxone kit and be able to give it to others if they overdose

Information and Education

Here at the Haven we believe that accurate information and understanding are extremely important to making the best decisions about what we are going to do, with whom, and when. 

Community education is also an important part of reducing stigma and judgment as well as increasing understanding and empathy within our communities.  Community education is a key part of helping our community develop solutions instead of finger-pointing and focusing on only the problems we face.
